ORU needs a beautiful Italian Quad for Christmas!
Tax deductible
Like most other rowing clubs in the region and around the country, ORU has had many challenges to overcome over the past 18 months. This season, however, with a large group of new rowers and several successful fall races under its belt, ORU is resuming the momentum it started before the pandemic.
With a larger team, having high quality equipment is even more important so we can support the performance of all ORU athletes, particularly as the team looks towards the spring racing season. While monthly dues cover ORU for basic maintenance and running cost, they are not sufficient to cover the expenses of buying new equipment like racing boats.
A couple of weeks ago Coach Plamen was able to buy, using personal funds, a nearly new Filippi quadruple scull. This is the type of boat usually seen at world championship and Olympic games and is typically well out of the reach of junior club teams. Because of Plamen’s fast action, it has been secured at a great price. If ORU can raise the funds, this boat could potentially be purchased by ORU for the experienced junior athletes to use in competition.
So far, we have donations of $3,000 from three families towards the goal of $20,000 and we are asking for help finding the rest. With the end of the tax year fast approaching, perhaps some of you, or your family and friends, may be in a position to make a tax-deductible donation at this time.
Thank you so much for your support. Go ORU!
