Oscar's Bucket List of Adventures
Donation protected
Oscar was diagnosed with cancer in June 2015, when he was 9 years old. Over the past 6 years he’s had chemotherapy and proton beam therapy and more chemotherapy. For a short while Oscar had clear scans, but in 2020, just before lockdown #1, a routine scan picked up a live area of tumour. After a brief chemo treatment he went through a life-changing operation to remove the tumour. His operation caused paralysis down the right-hand side of his face, but gave Oscar the hope that he would live cancer-free and so he took his GCSE’s, went to prom, enrolled in a college course – he began to live.
But in November 2021, we discovered that the beast was back and this time it had spread to Oscar’s lung. On Wednesday 5th January 2022, Oscar’s doctor told him that they cannot cure his cancer.
Oscar, now 16, has made his wishes very clear – he doesn’t want to spend what life he has left stuck in the hospital, or sick from harsh treatments if the end result is inevitable - he wants the best quality of life he can have.
So, in the pursuit of that quality of life, Oscar has put together a bucket list of experiences and adventures that he’d like to do, and his family have added some visits that Oscar’s siblings and parents (and hopefully his beloved dogs) can join in with. With your help Oscar will be able to make memories with his family while he’s still well enough.
We don't know how long Oscar has to fit all these adventures in, but any funds not spent will be donated to Young Lives vs Cancer (CLIC Sargent) and the Oxford Hospital’s Charity, Children’s Hospital who have done so much for Oscar and the family over the past 6 years.
