Otis's Emergency Medical Expenses

It’s hard to put into words how much Otis means to me. For twelve years he has been my best friend- since he was an eight-week-old puppy who would fall asleep in my arms. Otis has helped me through my darkest points and has been there with me through every move, job transition, breakup, and family stress. When I would work 6-7 days a week for years he is always waiting patiently for me to get home, with a wagging tail and endless kisses. He’s the first to hop in a car ride for an adventure, bypass a crate of new plushie dog toys for his favorite torn-up old tennis ball, and will never skip a night to cuddle. Otis’s unconditional love has surely saved my life and gave me meaning and responsibility when I felt the most hopeless.

Unfortunately, Otis has been suffering from a heart condition for the past two years. On Friday, 7/22 we rushed Otis to his vet to find he was suffering from heart failure. We then immediately were sent to Blue Pearl Emergency Clinic for overnight treatment. Otis is now at home recovering but will need multiple follow-ups with a cardiologist, echocardiogram monitoring as well as two daily medications he will be on for the rest of his life.

After this last week of medical bills and emergency care to save him from heart failure, I regretfully have to set up this GoFundMe to ask for help. I work a full-time job in addition to two part-time gigs and it’s still not enough. I want to give Otis the best life he can have because that’s what he has given me.

A lot of you have already donated for a pet portrait, which allowed me to get Otis multiple echocardiograms over the past two years. Anyone that has the means to give to this, I will draw you a pet portrait or offer a tattoo or a print as a thank you for your generosity. I’m deeply conflicted about asking people for money, but I just don’t have many options at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to read.
