Ottawa’s Ukrainian Settlement Hub Needs Your Help!

Donation protected
Dear Supporters,

Join us in making a difference! Ottawa’s Maidan Market is facing a critical funding shortage and we need your help to raise $60,000 to ensure we are able to continue to support newcomers from Ukraine with the assistance they deserve. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of Ukrainians and help them rebuild their lives in Canada.

Maidan Market is Ottawa’s settlement hub for Ukrainian newcomers who are fleeing the ongoing war in Ukraine. Having opened our doors on May 2, 2022, our mission was and continues to be to provide every Ukrainian newcomer in Ottawa the support they need to not only survive but to thrive in their new community.

To date we have served over 3,000 Ukrainian newcomers at Maidan Market. Each of one their journeys is marked by resilience, hope, and the unwavering support of a community that cares at Maidan Market.

What We Do:
  • Settlement Consultations: Personalized one-on-one consultations covering banking, employment, housing, language support, health, education, immigration, transportation, and social needs.
  • English Classes: Small group English classes guided by native speakers to facilitate effective communication skills.
  • Mental Wellness Support: Life coaching sessions and meditation classes for emotional well-being, arts and crafts sessions for children.
  • Community Hub: Networking opportunities, computer access for employment support, and various community events.

Our Impact to Date:
  • Maidan Market has served over 600 families, offering tailored support to each individual of the family.
  • The Learning Centre has conducted 590 English classes for 180 English learners, preparing them for the job opportunities.
  • Over 2,000 newcomers received gently used clothing and other necessities through Maidan Market.

Beyond Metrics:
Maidan Market is more than a project; it's a place where home-like atmosphere, genuine connections, and emotional support thrives. Client testimonials speak volumes about the impact we've had on their lives – it's not just about settling; it's about creating a second home.

Why We Need Your Support:
  • Urgent Funding Gap: We need to secure $60,000 by the end of March to support the last of the arrivals from the Canada-Ukraine Authorization Emergency Travel (CUAET) program.
  • Sustainability: Your contribution ensures the sustainability of our vital services, including personnel salaries, supplies, and the continuation of our programs.
  • Expanded Services: Funds will allow us to expand our reach to another 150 families (approximately 300 people) settling in Ottawa.

Donate Today
Donate today to help us bridge the funding gap and continue providing vital services to Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Ottawa. Your generous contribution give every individual the opportunity to build a brighter future in Canada’s National Capital.

Where Your Money Will Go:
All funds will go directly to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Ottawa Branch, the organization behind Maidan Market. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress has decades of experience in growing the Ukrainian-Canadian community and being a key part of the multicultural fabric of Canada. Our organization has a elected Board of Directors comprised of Ukrainian community organizations in Ottawa, and has been operating the Maidan Market since May of 2022.
