Otto Morgan’s recovery fund
Donation protected
Hi, friends, family and strangers! My name is Blair and I am the Aunt of Otto Morgan. On Sunday, May 22nd Otto was involved in a horrific accident. Him and his brother Oscar were in the back of a moving truck that had a hydraulic lift on it. The lever on the lift was pulled and unfortunately Ottos hand was on the lift at that time.
He suffered devastating injuries to both his right hand and arm. He was taken to CHOA by ambulance and admitted to the hospital immediately. He underwent surgery on Tuesday, May 24th. The doctors stressed how incredibly lucky he is to still have all his extremities.
The surgeon repaired his fractured hand and pinky with pins and also stitched up the top laceration on his hand. Dr. Ratner was able to find a muscle in his thumb to attach a nerve to (with hopes it will fully function within the next 6 months). He was also able to close up the sever laceration that extended from the inside of his thumb to the center of his wrist.
Otto is currently in a closed soft cast, on heavy pain medication and strong antibiotics. He will have several upcoming doctor appointments and physical therapy over the next 6 months.
Otto is the most determined child, and we have no doubt he will make a full recovery! However, with the circumstances of it being summer he is now unable to attend summer camp. We will need to find coverage for him (preferably a home nurse) so his parents can continue to working.
Combined with the continued expenses from the medical bills, future physical therapy and surgeries he will need, we assume this will become costly very quickly. Our family would be incredibly grateful for any amount of donation made to help my sister and her family during this time. Otto is so loved and we want to make sure he receives all the proper care we can provide! Thankyou!
