OU Ghana Medical Brigade

Global Brigade is an international non-profit that uniquely implements a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. The global brigades model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably transitioning to a relationship of impact monitoring. The organization is geared towards inspiring, mobilizing, and collaborating with communities to achieve their own health and economic goals and in doing so they aspire to attain millions of empowered community members with the resources and capacity to thrive.

Global Brigades funds all of its programs, leadership development, and administrative costs through the fundraising efforts of more than 500 Global Brigades University Chapters around the world. Students from different university chapters fundraise to undertake projects in various local communities in different countries like Panama, Ghana, Greece, etc., and encompassing different academic sectors like medicine, public health, business, engineering, etc.

We are students part of the University of Oklahoma’s (OU) medical brigade that will embark on a trip to Ghana in July to work with local medical personnel to foster quality global sustainable healthcare. This trip is really important to us as among us are students from different backgrounds, places, and diversified experiences. To some students, this opportunity will serve as a first-hand experience for them to shadow doctors thereby setting the tone for their future medical careers. We are just endeavoring to ensure that every student who wants to can gain this experience without money hindering them and we will appreciate whatever little you can help us with.
