Short video introduction: Ouname Mhotsha's story

Ouname Mhotsha is the first female tour professional golfer from Botswana, Southern Africa. She started her golf journey at 7 years old and went on to attain 16 amateur career wins, including 2 international wins, and she currently holds the current ladies' course record (65 gross) at Gaborone Golf Club. She played on full scholarships at Alcorn State University (Division 1) and The University of Arkansas in Monticello (Division 2).

 

Career Highlights

Ouname is ready to challenge herself to represent Botswana in the professional golf world. Her future career goals are to compete in an LPGA event and represent Botswana in the olympics.

The vision is to start playing in professional golfing mini-tours such as the Cactus Tour, East Coast Women’s Pro Tour, and the Women's All Pro Tour. She hopes to eventually join the Epson Tour and LPGA Tour in the upcoming years.

 

Ever since her move to the United States for college golf, Botswana has seen an increase in the number of girls playing the sport and Botswana recently sent the first junior girls' team to an international tournament in 14 years. Ouname aims and hopes to lead by example and encourage more young girls in Botswana, in Africa and around the world to take up the sport not just for playing but for their holistic development and wellness. She has done multiple projects and mentorship programs that are aimed at sharing the lessons from her journey with those who need them.
