Rally for Robert: Help Robert Beat Pancreatic Cancer

Robert Nelson - owner of our cherished 2155 Dance Studio, instructor and WCS competitor - has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, having a tumor that is rather large and painful. He urgently needs our financial support as his medical bills and treatments are unimaginable and stacking up fast. We’ve set an initial fundraiser goal, but this is just a starting point. We will adjust the amount as needed based on treatment plan.

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT…

Robert Nelson and his domestic long-term partner, Adel Husband, have been icons and leaders in our Dallas dance community for nearly 30 years. 2155 Dance Studio (formerly Sandunga) has served as the local hub for the Dallas West Coast Swing, Swingout, Salsa, Bachata, Zouk and Country classes, as well as the “home base” for many of your favorite Dallas-based dancers and community builders. Several well-known events and groups have started out of 2155, including Wild Wild Westie (W3). In fact, W3 named “The Robert & Adel Social Dance Award” after them for their countless contributions to the WCS community.

Many of you have likely been on the receiving end of Robert’s generosity and support in the dance community. He's always been one of the first to offer a buddy deal, or the entire studio when there's been a need. He’ll let you dance into the wee hours of the night (well beyond the hours you paid for) and will be the first to say “keep your money” if he knows you’re going through a hard time.

Not too long ago, Robert explained that he prefers to be the giver – he doesn’t want to ask for help. However, right now he needs to be the receiver of our help. Anything you can give is appreciated. Also, please share this anywhere you can. He's touched many near and far over the years and there are many who are unaware of his desperate need.

It’s our turn to help Robert and Adel get through this challenging hardship.
