Our 2.5 year old boxer, Emma, has cancer

Donation protected
Hey guys,

So a couple of weeks ago, our little boxer, Emma, was diagnosed with lymphoma. As you can probably imagine, this was devastating for us, especially if you know us. And if you have met Emma, then you know what a happy, energetic, and goofy dog she is (and continues to be). She is our favorite being in the world and brings us love and laughs every single day. She's only 2.5 years old and seems ok on the outside. So this was very sudden and unexpected, and we wouldn't be able to live with ourselves if we didn't try and see what treatment could do for her.

But we also want to be really honest and transparent. Please read through all of the details below to understand what we're asking of you.

The Bad:

This is Multicentric Small B-cell Lymphoma. This is a terminal diagnosis. There is no cure, and chemotherapy will only prolong her life indefinitely. So you are not saving her life by donating, you are only granting us more time with her.

Just one round of chemo protocol will cost over $12,000. And we are going through with this, with or without help. But it will be hard to cover and it won't be the last of the bills to come.

The Good:

Dogs handle chemo very well. We won't be prolonging her suffering by going through with this (but ironically, may prolong our own suffering). We have thought through this part very thoroughly...

The best case scenario is that she stays in remission for more than a year before the cancer returns. It could be 6-10 months, it could be 2-3 years, in very very very rare cases. And in the case of a longer remission, it's possible we would try chemo again and keep her healthy for even longer.

The Real:

This road will be unknown. And if she doesn't stay in remission for long enough, we will not go for another round of chemo and will have to say goodbye. But we are going to start chemo now and just try to be patient.

The protocol that is recommended is a 25-week plan. Regardless of her response, we will be taking her in for weekly therapy. This means time off of work, travel, and potentially more expenses as we go if we have to do more for her. Anything you would be willing to give us would be profoundly helpful. Even if we could reach half of our goal, it would be incredibly supportive. Any little bit helps.

Your donations directly contribute to our little Emma's life span and to the love and joy in our home. Thank you so much.
