Our Angel on Earth - Stacey Haney

To anyone who knows Stacey Haney, you know what a kind, caring person she is. For those who don’t know her, let me introduce you. I first met Stacey when I was 15 years old. We immediately became friends. Don’t get me wrong, Stacey and I were typical teenagers. We snuck out of the house together with the other part of our trio, Jennifer; we chased boys… then cried over them. When we became adults, we raised our children together. Stacey is Godmother to my daughter and I am “Godmommy” to her youngest son. Because of her caring nature, it was no surprise when she chose to become a nurse. Stacey put herself through school while raising two young boys and received her RN degree. All the while, if anyone needed anything she was right there to help. If someone in my family was hurting, Stacey would be the first to ask “What can I do?”
For over 20 years now, Stacey has worked tirelessly to ensure her patients, and the patients on her unit are given the best care. She has worked tirelessly through COVID, all the while, doing her best to continue to inspire and motivate her team.
For quite a while now, Stacey has been dealing with back pain, which eventually came to a head when she fell last week. She was taken to the hospital where it was determined she needed surgery to fuse part of her thoracic spine. After surgery, she was unable to walk or use one of her legs. At a minimum, we knew that this was going to be a long road to recovery. Today, Stacey had another surgery to try to find the reason she is unable to use her leg and is starting her recovery over again. We have no idea how long this recovery will take, but we do know this:
1. Stacey recently started a new job and has no PTO built up. This means that she does not get paid while she is recuperating.
2. Stacey is a single mom who has one son still living at home who is starting his senior year of high school this year.
3. Stacey has worked hard her entire life and would not hesitate to help anyone in need!
4. Stacey needs our help with medical bills and living expenses while she recovers. She doesn’t deserve to have to worry about how she will feed her son, or take care of the things he needs to start the school year (never mind all of the added expenses that come with senior year).
5. (Or 1…probably should have been 1.) PRAY FOR OUR GIRL and the Medical staff who is trying to help her!!!!
Can you find it in your heart to help my friend? I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that she would do the same for you! If you can’t help, please share. Let’s give back to someone who has given to SO MANY!
