Our baby Stella

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for taking your time to check on this. We’re asking for help in regards to Stella’s unexpected surgery. We adopted her in summer ‘22 from a family that didn’t want her anymore. Long story short the family used her to breed and after the second time giving birth they were giving her away for free. Our initial plan was to get her spayed, but after we took her in, we noticed that she wasn’t in the best condition. We brought her to the vet, her right ear had fully closed due to an infection and with the anti-biotic the vet prescribed, it made it risky to get her spayed at that time. Then between Nov-Dec she went into her heat cycle and after doing some research online, it was highly recommended that we wait a few more months after her cycle ends before we can make an appointment for her to get spayed. So we waited.

Around Wednesday night, we noticed that she wasn’t acting like herself and started eating less. We assumed that she got bored with the food she was eating but it continued on until Friday night when she started trembling and we saw some vaginal discharge, which completely took us by surprise. Saturday morning we went to the vet to get her checked up and he said that she needed surgery ASAP because she has a Pyometra which could be life threatening.

“Pyometra is the infection in the uterus (womb) of a female dog. It is caused by hormonal changes in the body that fill the uterus with pus. Pyometra is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention.”

It sucks asking for help since we try our best to provide a great life for her and her cat siblings. The donation will all go to her surgery bill which cost around $7,000. It was a huge shock hearing the total cost of it and it would be a major help if anyone can contribute or even spread the word.
