Our beloved Mother, Maurina Lakang Abalang

Heaven has gained an angel. Our beloved Mother, Maurina Lakang Abalang suddenly and peacefully passed away on July 3rd 2024 in Ottawa, Canada. She was the most unique, devoted, kind, caring, humble and loving mother, Sister and grandmother one could ever ask for. The entire family and South Sudanese community are in deep shock and mourning at her sudden death.

For those who are lucky enough to have met and interacted with our Mom, you will know that she was a living dictionary of stories ranging from social, political and was true champion for education. In Ottawa, she was always involved in various community events and would always offer advise to the young ones.

Throughout her life she took care of multitude of people. Some of these people she took care of are positively contributing to the development of South Sudan government and they are full of appreciation and praise for the positive role she played in their lives.

She is survived by her 5 children(Josephine, Grace, Eunice, Moses and Robert Abalang) and 7 grand children.

To honor her wish to be buried close to her loving late husband in South Sudan. We are raising funds to cover her funeral expenses both here in Ottawa Canada and to transport the body back to South Sudan. Any contributions will help us honor her memory and give her the fair well she deserve. Thank you for your support and prayers at this difficult time. Amen.
