LeAnn received new LUNGS!! Thank you donor family!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kim (Fossey) Cerchiai and I have a huge, heartfelt request from anyone interested in helping contribute to this fund for my dear, lifelong friend LeAnn. LeAnn has been suffering most of her life from a VERY SERIOUS lung disease and she is now in need of a lung transplant. They finally listed her this week for a double lung transplant. LeAnn's Mom and brother both had this same disease and unfortunately, they succumbed to this after suffering for many years. LeAnn is living on full-time oxygen and has lost all function of her left lung and her right one is extremely weak and worn out. Time is running out for her! The road is bumpy from here on out. Obviously, they need a donor, which is a tricky issue. There are a lot of factors that go into this procedure, and it's a long recovery. This surgery will be taking place in San Francisco at UCSF, and she lives outside Sacramento. So once the surgery is complete, she is REQUIRED to stay somewhere in San Francisco for at least 3 months, maybe longer with a full-time caregiver, 24/7. Her husband Brian will be her caregiver. He will not be able to work for an extended period, and they will have enormous bills from medical/housing/food, etc. in SFO. We would like to ask you to consider a donation so we can take a little pressure off of them while she goes through this life-saving surgery. Thank you in advance for helping save another important life! LET'S DO THIS FOR LEANN!
11/28/23 Update
LeAnn is eternally grateful for this donor set of lungs and she’s breathing on her own. There have been several complications along the way. The worst one is the fact that the lungs are too big for her chest and it’s causing excruciating pain 24/7 with no reprieve. She’s losing weight along with muscle mass at dangerous levels. Diabetes is difficult to control and infection in one lung has been hard to clear up. She’s not sleeping due to the pain so exhaustion is dominating her life. If you want to talk to her, I wouldn’t plan on that right now. She’s having hearing issues as well and speaking has been tough too. She needs big time prayers and a reprieve in the pain. I’ll keep you posted.
