Our dear friend, Amelia, is in need!

My name is Michelle, and I am starting a Go Fund Me page for my very dear friend, Amelia. I have known Amy for 36 years. She is the most kind, thoughtful, and trustworthy friend and sorority sister anyone could ask for. Amy will go out of her way to help others in need, even if that means she must go without. Last year Amelia supported me as I walked 60 miles to raise money for Breast Cancer research. Now it is my time to help her.

Currently, Amelia is going through a very difficult and wearisome divorce. She moved away from her home over a year ago for her own mental and physical well-being. Since that time, she has struggled financially and needs our help. Amy was a stay-at-home mom and did not work outside the home while her children were young. Her ex-husband was the sole provider for the family. This abuser continues to live in their house, mortgage and rent free, while Amy has drained all savings to pay her rent and put food on her table.

Amy’s ex-husband is ordered to provide NYS mandated support. Amy has already agreed to the lowest allowed amount because (in her words) “I didn’t want to ask for more and make him more mad.” The amount he has paid her over the last three weeks has been $1.00 total!

Amelia has a court date in just over two weeks, but her rent is overdue, her car needs to be registered, and other expenses are piling up. We are hoping to raise $5,000 to help her get through this September and October. Any amount you can give will help. Please share with others to help us meet our goal.
