Our Dear Friend, Armen Memic

Hi Friends, my name is Nicole Matta and I am fundraising for our dear friend, Armen Memic. He was the victim of a hate crime this Monday, April 15th a few blocks away from his home in Curtis Park, Denver.

Here is his story in his own words: "Thank you so much. I have no idea who did it. It seemed like it was a young homeless guy. It happened at the cross streets of Park Avenue and Welton St. at the red light. I was on my way home on a Lyft scooter and this guy said “hey” or “hi” and I turned toward him and punched me in the face knocking me to the ground off the scooter. Blood started gushing out of my nose right away and he kept saying “give me your money faggot". I reached in my pocket and gave him my wallet with $80 in it.

I called the cops they haven’t called me back. I went to the urgent care right away and then 911 picked me up from there and took me to Denver Health. This was yesterday, April 15th at 4:30pm. When I got to the ER they did CT scans and I met with the facial reconstruction team. My right cheek bone below my eye is shattered. There is no support for my right eye but my eye is in tact. My nose is completely broken. So they need the swelling to go down to operate next week and place a titanium or steal plate under my eye as my new cheek bone. My pre-op is this Friday and then hopefully the surgery will take place on Monday, April 22nd."

Dear Friends, will you please help me in raising enough money for Armen to pay some of his medical expenses and pay his living expenses while he is out of work for an extended time. As a hairdresser, Armen does not have sick pay, or medical leave that he can rely on. NO one expects that they will be the victim of such a horrific crime.
