Tricia’s Journey
“Sometimes carrying on, just carrying on, is the superhuman achievement.” -Albert Camus
Many times, in life, we call into question the fairness of it all. Why did the tornado knock down that house, or that one, but leave mine standing? How did that car swerving on the road miss me and hit the one next to me? In times of reflection, we are grateful for our own health and yet left in a tormented emotional state by the struggles faced by those closest to us. We wonder how we escaped unscathed when they seemingly are faced with challenge after challenge.
Our beautiful friend Tricia is facing the fight of her life. She recently was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer. While this diagnosis alone is frightening, overwhelming, and life threatening, this is just the most recent in a very difficult period for her.
Two years ago, Tricia was first diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. Through aggressive treatments, to include surgery and chemotherapy, and along with the love and support of family, friends, and her work family at Merz she was able to come through. Earlier this year she was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Yet once again she demonstrated great resilience. She was able to continue to work through yet another surgery and prolonged admission due to complications.
Through it all she remained positive and optimistic, she brought her sense of humour and lightened every room she was in. She carried herself with a quiet dignity as she fought through all the symptoms of chemo, radiation, and surgery and served her family, company, customers, and community.
In September of this year, Tricia began what she thought was a blissful road to recovery. She was married at the start of the month and celebrated the new beginning with those closest to her. Unfortunately, fate has dealt her one more terrible blow. On a follow up visit in mid-September, she was found to have Stage 3 Lung Cancer.
As she prepares herself for all that this fight/treatment entails, she must focus her energy on her health. For this reason, she has stepped away from her job. We, her friends and family are asking for your help. We want to give Tricia every opportunity to focus on her treatments, her health, her family and recovery. She has always supported herself; she has looked after her son as he attends University, she looks after those closest to her and she has never asked for help. Today, we stand with her, offering all the help we can give.
Please join us in helping Tricia. Anything you can give will help Tricia focus on her treatment and recovery. If we can alleviate even a fraction of the financial burden while she has the fight of her life.
