Our Emergency With A Ruptured Aneurysm
Donation protected
On May 26th, my dad was on the back patio helping my mom with her flower pots. He suddenly lost consciousness and fell backwards landing on his back and head. He immediately went into a seizure and stopped breathing. I heard my dad fall and I ran out to help him. We called 911 and they instructed us to start CPR as we waited for the medics to arrive. He was taken by ambulance to Mountain Point Medical Center where they realized his condition was beyond their ability to treat. He was then transferred to the trauma center at Provo Medical Center where they informed us that he had a ruptured aneurysm and bleeding in the brain. They told us that he would need a helicopter Life Flight to Intermountain medical center in Murray, where a specialist could better care for him. One of the biggest problems is that both Provo and Murray hospitals are out of network for my parents insurance.
At the Murray hospital, they were able to perform a procedure that stopped the internal bleeding without having to do major surgery. He will be in the ICU for at least 21 days to minimize the risk of stroke and slowly work on regaining his strength and motor skills. He is in recovery and as you can imagine there are good days and bad days.
There is still a long road ahead and the prognosis for full recovery is still unknown. This event has financially been devastating for my parents as the ambulance + helicopter rides, and hospital stay are not covered by insurance. I'm hoping to share this message with everyone to see if we can help alleviate some of the financial burden my parents are facing. Any donation you can offer will be greatly appreciated. I'll update this post with his progress over the coming weeks so everyone can stay connected on how my dad is doing.
