Our failed attempt at saving Denver

Donation protected
Hi my name is Gill and I am fundraising to help with medical bills left behind after trying to save my boy Denver. Denver began not eating and vomiting on April 18th. After a vet visit on the the 19th where they gave him fluids, an anti-nausea medication, x-rays and bloodwork, we were sent home as the X-rays did not show an obstruction. The following day Denver was not any better, the bloodwork had come back with nothing remarkable and the vet suggested we take Denver for an ultrasound. We had to go to the emergency vet hospital where they performed the ultrasound and dicovered what they believed to be a linear foreign object in his intestine. He was set up for emergency surgery. During surgery they discovered that the image was actually scar tissue but on further exploration the surgeon found a stick had punctured the intestine. They had to resect the intestine. Fast forward to early Sunday morning, I received a call from the hospital to say that Denver was not doing well and they did not think he was going to make it. They discussed euthanasia. Sunday morning I went to visit and he was doing better so I decided to give it another 24 hours. Still improving on Monday and Tuesday he was sent home on pain meds, rest, bland diet and rest. He seemed to be ok until Thursday when we noticed him not eating much. Friday he did not eat and slept almost the entire day. I called the hospital Saturday morning and they decided he should be brought back for another scan and some tests. The scans and tests showed septic abdomen with evidence that the resection did not take. At this point the best decision for Denver was euthansia as I did not want to put him through any more pain and suffering.
