Fire at Family-Owned Hispanic Restaurant: Zamoras
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Julian Gomez, and I am the son of Zamoras Carnitas Mexican Restaurant owners. A little after 3 am this morning, our alarm went off and my dad, better known as Beto, headed to the restaurant to check it out. The restaurant was already on fire when he arrived with police officers outside. The fire department was on its way, but despite their best efforts, the fire destroyed our entire kitchen and several sections of the restaurant. Upon arriving, the fire department turned off the electricity as routine. However, this caused all of our food supplies and perishables to go to waste. Thank God, no one was injured in the fire. This unfortunate event has happened at one of the worst times of the year, with Christmas and other holidays so close. The reconstruction time frame is unknown but expected to be several months, putting our employees out of work indefinitely for the time being. As a Hispanic-owned business in a predominately Hispanic area, we have felt the support of the city for more than a decade. We are seeking kind contributions to assist with the quicker reconstruction of our business and make up for the loss in wages that our employees are facing.
