Our fellow small business owner Kena Scott

This fundraiser is to provide necessary funds to help a member of our wellness/spa community, Kena Scott.

Kena, 56, is an esthetician/massage therapist and owner of the Cape Cod Day Spa in South Yarmouth. The Spa opened in 2019 (right before Covid hit…) and offers skincare, massage, couples massages and spa parties.

Since reopening post-Covid the business was just becoming more popular with the locals and visitors alike.

The past 8 months however have hit hard. In October the house she rented in Orleans was sold leaving her to move into a basement apartment in Mashpee.

Then in January she experienced a catastrophic health crisis. After debilitating migraine headaches and mysterious facial bruising, she was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation,

a congenital condition causing pain, loss of strength in hands & arms, dizziness and balance problems. Kena had brain surgery last week to relieve the pressure of a cyst located in her skull to allow for better movement of synovial fluid to her spinal column. Even with Occupational and Physical therapy her recovery will take months-just so she can work at the desk of her spa. She may never be able to go back to sharing her passion for massage.

As many small, independent businesses on Cape Cod she has only her spa for income. While she is grateful for her employees for all they have done she needs a little more help from her friends.

Please join me in giving what you can. This is a predicament any of us could be faced with- unexpected health issues, under pressure of housing and business expenses and entirely overwhelmed.
