Hey now!
My name is Mitch Stein, and I created this GoFundMe campaign to assist my friend and friend to all music lovers get through some unexpected challenges that are at the moment causing her considerable stress. For those who don't yet know who Betty is, she is known throughout the world as the legendary recordist and producer for The Grateful Dead whose stellar recordings of the band not only created a lasting legacy of their concerts via her dedication to sonic excellence, but saw those same World Class recordings get shared via cassettes (and now digital files) between Deadheads around the world. The Grateful Dead famously allowed their fans to record their shows from the audience, thus creating a very large library of fan-recorded concerts of varying quality; that said, Betty's pristine recordings made by mixing the raw signals to the house soundboard resulted in custom mixes very lovingly known as "Betty Boards", which in Deadhead parlance designates them as the highest quality "soundboard" recordings ever created. Betty's work with Chris Robinson and others continues to this day, and she does all she can to not let her current challenges distract her from doing what she loves to do...which of course brings musical pleasure to all who hear her handiwork.
Betty is in relatively good spirits, but external forces (e.g. current flooding in and round her home and resulting loss of power) are directly threatening her happiness and sanctuary, and have motivated me to create this campaign to allow Deadheads and other music fans around the world to hopefully give something back to her in her time of need. I know how much a financial boost will help to give Betty peace, and I therefore thank you in advance for anything you can do to help, and to help Betty see that through the strength of family, the lyric All Good Things In All Good Time is nothing but true.
