Our friend Seamus needs our help!

To know him is to love him, he’s our boy, Seamus!

As many of you may know, Seamus has been fighting the good mental health fight for quite a few years. He’s had ups and he’s had downs. He’s currently experiencing some big downs and really needs our help. If you know Seamus, you know that while he’s always there to lend a helping hand when you need him, he’s absolutely terrible at asking for help for himself. So, we, his chosen family, are asking on his behalf.

Over the last five years, Seamus has struggled to manage several serious medical diagnoses and their related complex treatment plans, all while also trying to navigate Nova Scotia’s abysmal mental health system as a trans man. Faced with these pressures, Seamus has had to leave his job and go on long-term disability. Yet even through all these struggles, Seamus continues to be an outspoken member of the queer community and a devoted friend and neighbour.

Recently, Seamus has been hit with some particularly difficult medical issues and has been unable to access his usual support systems or resources. This has resulted in a dire financial situation for him and his family. Seamus knows how to be frugal, but he also knows when he’s reached his financial limit.

Once Seamus has had some time to further his medical treatments and allow some healing in his life, he plans to return to work this fall. Until then, financial support from his community would provide him with much-needed breathing room to get stronger, to heal, and to recover.

Over the last few weeks, so many of his friends have asked how they can help. We’re here to let you know, this is how! Any small amount helps, and any support is so greatly appreciated. Spread the word throughout your various communities!
