Please continue to give as generously as you can before I close this crowdfunder down next month, on the 2nd anniversary (August 4th) of the blast and shockwave caused by the ammonium nitrate stored dangerously for years in Port de Beyrouth. Equally importantly, please circulate the link to this crowdfunder to your professional and personal networks, encouraging them to do the same.

Between this crowdfunder and the separate bank account (details available on application) set up to help 'Our Friends in Beirut', around GB£ 35,000 was raised, sent out to Beirut and distributed locally. In all, 45 people have been helped through the small sums they were able to receive and for that, both they and I are extremely grateful.

The scandalous political ineptitude, aggressive defense of the status quo by the political elite and protection of the non-transparent financial system continue to allow the country to slip deeper and deeper into as great a recession as any nation has experienced.
