Our Sloane Girl & her sweet heart.

On November 30th, our girl went from happy, smiley, & chatty to intubated in the PICU within a matter of hours. The shock of a lifetime.

I don't even know how to begin to explain it all to you. Truly a nightmare - mixed with some of the most beautiful hope and kindness.

We were at home with Sloane and something didn't feel right. She was refusing to eat (something she has N E V E R done), was extra fussy, and just didn't seem like herself. Then I noticed the faintest blue tint around her mouth. Mama's intuition. We left for BC Children's immediately.

The rest is blurry. Straight into a room in the ER. Her quickly declining. Rushed into the emergency OR. No less than 25 doctors, nurses, and specialists rushing into the room in a matter of seconds.

"Her heart is barely pumping."

Rushed to the PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care), us taken out of the room, Sloane intubated, being told that we saved her life by bringing her. Being transferred across the country to one of the best paediatric hospitals in the world.

There are so many details in between. Moments we were SURE it was just a blip, something so random, and we'd be going home soon. And then moments when our whole world stoped.

I actually don't even know how to type the words because it doesn't feel like our life right now. No way. Not our girl.

Heart failure. Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Not seeing the improvement they should have seen.

Our baby needing a heart transplant.

How do you even begin to process except by holding onto ALL the hope. Our girl will be OKAY. She has to be. Her life will be long, full, and beautiful. We know it. This will be her story to tell one day.
