Our Grand European Adventure
AKA: The Last Great Road Trip
If you're reading this, odds are you already know me, AC Smith. And you're likely aware that (after a remarkable run for which I am extremely grateful) the medical professionals are betting I'm good for a couple more years, maybe three if all the cards fall right.
If you don't already have the details, you can find 'em here if you're interested.
Now, this is the thing: Other than a few months in Mexico decades ago, I've never been outside the US.
My spouse and partner has lobbied for years to drag me on a long road trip through France, Scotland and Europe in general, and I've always temporized, insisting "it's not a good time right now." At this point in my life, there's no room for "putting things off until later" any more. "Later" means "I'm not gonna do it."
We've been saving up for this trip for a while, now. And we are by gods going this fall. But at the rate we're accumulating funds, financing's gonna be really tight. This has to be at least a month long trip in order to make sense.
Several folks have strongly encouraged me to put this out there, and give folks who would like to help, and are in a position to do so, the chance.
So, here it is. Look, most of us don't enjoy a whole lot of "spare money" and, for those who do, there are lots of very worthy folks and projects out there that can use your support.
But if you're "in a position," and you're so inclined, you can be damned sure it's going to make a difference, and will be deeply appreciated.
No gift too large or too small, as they say. Thanks for reading and, if you're able and inclined, thanks for helping.
