Our Harry, Our Hero
Many of you know I have an extra special nephew, at just 2 years old he is battling a rare, aggressive form of brain tumour. He had surgery in December at Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge followed by 5 rounds of very harsh chemotherapy. He was due to have his last blast at chemo at the start of this month, but a recent MRI showed the horrible disease had started to grow again. Within days he was in Alder Hay hospital in Liverpool having this evil enemy taken away from his brain. For the best chance of survival Harry needs to have Proton Beam Therapy, this is offered in Manchester but due to the pandemic it’s not an option because Harry needs this treatment now. My brother Matt & sister in law Nelly, have been told they can travel to Germany to have treatment there, paid for by the NHS, this is amazing news for Harry. But it does mean they will have to leave the country for 9 weeks and also taking James, one of Harry’s big brothers with them. The reason for this page is take some of the financial struggle from them, they have not been able to work for the last 6 months, they have had enough on their minds without having to think how to pay bills and provide for their boys.
Taking two boys out of the country is stressful enough, along with all their clothes they have to take Harry’s milk as he’s NG fed and lots of medication that he has to have multiple times a day. That doesn’t leave any room for toys to keep the boys entertained while they are in a different country. Now that Harry hasn’t had chemo for a while the old Harry is coming back, he wants to play and get up on his feet to walk (Matt and Nelly have to hold him up) so being able to buy him some toys while they are away will make all the difference for him and bring a bit of normal back to his life.
I just want them all to know that there are many people who love and care for them so very much and we are willing to do anything to make this awful time in their lives a little bit easier.
