UCONN Husky Buddy, Willie McCloud, needs our help
A dear friend of mine shared his story with me and it confirms even more that CANCER SUCKS. Willie McCloud is a former University of Connecticut basketball player from 1987-89. Willie and I met during my freshman year at UConn and he immediately became my big brother. His smile would light up the room and he has always been a gentle giant. Our 30+ years of friendship couldn’t prepare me for the news that he told me when I called to check in and say hello He was diagnosed on May 11th with Stage 3 Prostate Cancer. On July 15th he had a prostatectomy to have it removed. The surgery was successful and he has begun the long road to recovery, but is now stuck with huge medical expenses.
being in between jobs, this couldn’t come at a worse time. Immediately, I wanted to help in any way that I could. When I asked Willie what he needed, money is his biggest worry. He has tried to set up payment plans with the hospital and doctors, but it will
rap him forever at this point. So, We determined that the only thing to do was to get the word out to our friends/family at UConn and all over the world. We set up a “Go Fund Me” page for Willie with a goal of $100,000 to help with the medical bills. Any correspondence, words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated: Willie McCloud, 821 Searcy Ave, Sarasota, FL 34237
