Our IVF journey for Baby Laaksonen

Donation protected
Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamt of getting married and starting a family of my own. I met Tim at a gas station almost 6 years ago.. he was filling up the “Spoolbus” as we call it and I was the new girl in town driving an old lifted Chevy. I think from the moment we met we knew we were meant to be.

We have now been married for almost 4 years and have been trying to grow our family ever since, with no luck. After a lot of praying, many tests and appointments around the state, we recently found out that Tim has obstructive azoospermia. When Tim was born and released from the hospital his mom knew something wasn’t right. He wasn’t having bowel movements and started vomiting blood. At one point they almost lost him. In an effort to save his life he underwent around 8 surgeries on his intestines before he was even 3 months old. They later found out Tim was born with Hirschsprung's Disease, a rare disease not many doctors knew about at the time. He would have to go through multiple of these surgeries up until he was close to 12 years old as the previous surgeries would fail. Thankfully, Tim is healthy and has not had any problems since his last surgery when he was twelve. But these surgeries have led to lots of scar tissue and damage to his tubes that sperm normally travel through. What does this mean for us? Unfortunately, we will never be able to have kids naturally and IVF is our only hope in growing our family. A lot of you are probably aware that most insurance companies do not cover infertility treatments and ours is one of them.

Tim and I have had a lot of our friends and family ask what they could do to help and after receiving our quote from the IVF doctor, this may be our only hope. We are hoping that because we didn’t have a bridal shower or a wedding registry, maybe our friends and family can help us grow our family instead.❤️

We just want to say we appreciate and love each and every one of you. We have had so much support since opening up about our infertility journey! We are so hopeful that Baby Laaksonen will be here sooner than later. If you can donate anything at all, thank you so much! ❤️ And if you cannot donate, we completely understand! Your thoughts and well wishes are enough for us. We know we have a long road ahead of us, so please keep us in your prayers as we continue on our journey. ❤️

All our love,
Tim & Mikalyn
