Hi my name is Hanna Dus, I hate to be posting about something like this because it’s incredibly sad and immeasurably devastating. But one of my families cats, Blue, was shot in the face yesterday and has been in critical condition for 24 hours.
She isn’t even a year old yet and she’s super, duper friendly. They were able to stabalize her at Valley Vet this morning and we are desperate to find out who did this. But our main focus right now is keeping her alive. This happened, essentially, DEAD center in the middle of Lenox, MA. She managed to get shot in the face and still make it back to my mom and ask for help. The vets have confirmed that it has to be a DIRECT neighbor. Someone that lives directly next door or across the street from us.
She is currently in great hands at Tufts veterinary clinic. She has been intubated and it will be determined whether or not she’s going to need surgery in the next 3-4 hours, approximately. The bullet is lodged in her throat/chest area. They’re trying to figure out if there’s significant damage but she’s in so much pain and incredibly scared so they’re having a tough time seeing down there without putting her under anesthesia. I’ve already paid over $7,000 just for the 75% deposit required.
They quoted me around $7k-10k total and her initial visit at our local vet cost $800, we had brought her there when we had thought it was just a superficial wound from a wild animal.
PLEASE HELP US HELP BLUE!!
UPDATE: Blue was discharged after spending three nights at tufts without eating. They wanted to test if she would feel more comfortable eating at home, which was not the case. She spent two nights back at home and was still refusing food, foaming from her mouth and bleeding a bit from her nose. This is super hard to write without crying…. It’s very hard seeing her like this.
We ended up having to bring her BACK to tufts and now she’s being intubated again and tube fed through the front of her throat.
We aren’t sure how long she’ll be at tufts but they’re estimating that she may be discharged tomorrow. We shall see, but in the meantime I’m continuing to try to pay for all of this by myself. Thank you to everyone that has contributed thus far. Blue, my mother Shana and I appreciate it immensely.
KEEP PRAYING FOR BLUE
