Our Kupuna: Grandparents Day 2022
Tax deductible
Can you imagine your elderly parent or grandparent (kupuna) not having enough food, medication or basic household supplies? Or even worse, being unable to access those necessities because they can't leave their home and don't have family to help? We couldn't either.
Aloha, I'm Keva DeKay, Program Director of Our Kupuna. Our Kūpuna is a nonprofit organization under the Hawaii VA Foundation that matches low-income homebound kūpuna with a nearby community volunteer who shops for their kupuna to ensure food security and safe in-home aging.
Our Kūpuna was launched March 2020 in Hawaii in response to the risks older adults were facing during the pandemic. Today, Our Kūpuna continues to provide desperately needed assistance to the senior community as we recognize the ongoing need for food and medical supply access assistance for those who are homebound.
To date, we have helped over 500 kupuna, and see the need for our service growing daily.
Please help our volunteer program continue to make a difference for low-income homebound seniors in Hawaii! We are raising money to support Hawaii VA Foundation's Our Kūpuna program. It costs $50 per month to help one kupuna. Any donation will have an impact - when we find a good fit, both kupuna and volunteer are happy!
Mahalo for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Our Kūpuna is an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization under Hawaii VA Foundation.
