Our All American Cheerleader Layne

Donation protected
We are raising money for our daughter, Layne.  We have done our best over the years that we have been blessed with our daughter Layne. From fighting for her to have an equal education to supporting her when she wants to do something that is normally reserved for "typical" kids. Anyone who knows Layne would say she is anything but typical and is in fact a very special young lady.

One of her great joys in life is cheerleading. She started her cheerleading career when she was 9 years old with one of the adaptive squads in our area and has had spirit fingers ever since. The summer before her junior year at Bella Vista she surprised us with requesting to try out for cheer at school, instead of continuing with her community adaptive team. With her confidence and spirit she made the varsity team. This is Layne's senior year at Bella Vista High School (second year on the varsity team at BV) and she again surprised us with telling us that she interviewed for team captain. (She is short in stature but a giant in the confidence department) She was awarded the position of spirit ambassador for her team, she was over the moon with her new title.

The Bella Vista cheerleading team and coaching staff have done a wonderful job of including Layne, and this year her coach really wanted Layne to attend cheer camp.  Layne was so excited to go to camp and to experience this with her team. Layne and her coach surprised us again, with her trying out for the UCA All American Award, I thought to myself how wonderful to include Layne. This is a top award for a cheerleader to receive from camp.  And of course she NAILED IT! And her team all cheered for her, yelling out "Go Layne". My heart was melting because of the love and support her team was showing for her. When you are a parent of a child with special needs, you hope and pray for acceptance from their peers.

It never crossed our minds that Layne would be selected to receive the award because only 2 cheerleaders per team are chosen. Then the announcement came Layne R for Bella Vista Varsity team.

WHAT!?! What does this mean?

Layne is now invited to attend the Varsity All American Orlando Disney World Thanksgiving parade, how cool is that, right? How much does that cost? $5,000 eeek!

Layne has an opportunity to not only represent Bella Vista Varsity Cheer team but also individuals with Down Syndrome. Which leads into why we are asking for your generous donations, so Layne can indeed participate in this opportunity.

Our first goal is to raise $1,200 by August 5th.  That will cover the deposit, and our second goal is $3,800 by October.

Please consider donating to help Layne with this once in a life time opportunity.
