On July 5th, 2022 at 1:11 A.M. our little Paysley became and angel. Paysley was only 13 years old and struggled with more challenges than the doctors believed was possible.
Being born with a congenital heart defect, we knew her journey would be challenging. At the beginning 2021 we were given the worst news any parent or child could hear, Cancer. After treatment, we thought we could get back to the new normal for Paysley, but it was an uphill battle. Through the next 6 months, she spent every other week in the hospital. January 5th, she was admitted to the hospital for extreme oxygen needs and electrolyte replacement. We didn’t know that we were slowly losing grip on what was truly wrong. Her belly was filling like a balloon, and they found a hole in her intestines. January 15th, they took her back for emergency surgery and removed a large portion of her intestines. Leaving her with an ileostomy. Her body was fighting so hard to heal that she became highly malnourished and in need of tube feeds for supplemental feeding. Then thinking that Paysley would start to improve, we have received the worst news yet. Paysley was diagnosed with a new form of cancer. It is called Large B cell non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It spread throughout her tiny, frail body. The doctors informed the family that there was not much left that they can do. We were heartbroken.
At that time, the doctors sent Paysely home to pass away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family. They only gave her a few weeks to live. She hung on and suffered a broken back and many more struggles for four months.
Many people stepped in and donated to help Sam and Thecia, Payleys parents. It allowed Sam to be able to work part-time and Thecia to quit her job. Sam and Thecia are incredibly grateful for the generosity of everyone that allowed them to be with their daughter for the last days of her life.
Just before she passed away, she woke up and told her family it was time to go. She told her family that she was going to miss them. She told her brother that she had a dream. She dreamed that after she died, he would start doing drugs. She made him promise that he would never touch the stuff. Even in the face of death, our courageous Paysley was worried about her family. She is an example to us all.
We are asking for help with the funeral cost at this time if you can do so. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, and donations. We will miss our little Paysley with all our hearts.
Thank you all.
