Our little pickle to get a powered wheelchair
Donation protected
Hi hi hi, my name is Richard and I am a foster carer. 4 years ago we had a referral for a 2 year old little boy who had cerebral palsy and had suffered severe neglect. When he came to us he was like a new born baby he was unable to lift his head, roll, verbalise or anything that a 2 year old should be doing…… fast forward to today and he now sits independently plays with toys and lets us know what he wants (normally mr tumbles !!!!) last year we were lucky enough to receive a loan of a powered wheelchair and wow his life changed and he had independence he was able to explore the garden, park and lots of other places all by himself !! Sadly he has now outgrown the chair. The next size up on the chair unfortunately we can’t get free of charge and the cost is over £8000 which is really beyond anything we could afford. We want him to continue to have independence but because of the cost we are worried that he may go backwards and we really don’t want that. If anyone could spare anything towards the cost we would be very grateful and I know although he may not be able to thank you his smile and laughter would be enough. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts xxxxx
