Our Local hero Julie needs your support.

I’m setting up this Go fund me page with Julie and Her husband Darren’s permission.

I’m sure by now many of you are aware of the heroic efforts made by Julie to attempt to save the life of a man stuck on the railway tracks in his wheel chair. This horrible accident happened at 5:30pm on Saturday, May 26th in our home town of Chilliwack, BC. Despite Julie's selfless act of putting herself in front of an on coming train in order to attempt to save a stranger, and the lady Yvonne who also tried her best to save him,  their attempts with only seconds to respond was sadly not enough. The man lost his life at the scene. Julie stayed until the last possible moment, putting her life on the line, as she tried to jump clear of the train but was hit on her right hand and thrown to the ground.

So you know Julie sustained a serious injury to her right hand, what you may not know is that Julie already under went emergency surgery on her hand and the doctors are saying that she will need future surgeries. Her knuckles were crushed, fingers broken, bones in her hand broken and tendons torn, but the worse part is the nerve damage that the doctors believe will permanently cause the impaired use of her three fingers.

I’m also aware that Julie and her husband are in need of support at this time, and that Julie is currently facing many scary complications and side effects since her incredibly traumatic event Saturday. Julie is suffering from edema, swelling all over her body caused but fluid build up, the scariest of which because being  fluid collecting in her lungs and around her heart, this is a very scary complication.

She’s also sustained scratches and bruises on her body, mostly her left leg and side. She’s also been suffering from extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting , headaches, low potassium and that’s just the physical stuff. The emotional and mental post traumatic stress is intense. Julie will need extensive counselling  and trauma therapy which will also cost money. As well as the intense physical therapy she will need for her hand.
Julie has been to the ER twice since her over night stay in the hospital , and doctors appointments as well. She is exhausted in every way. Julie has so much to deal with, financial stress is the last thing she should have to do!

Let’s rally together to raise money for this local hero who risked her life for a compete stranger and set an example for all of us of what it truly means to “ do unto others as you’d want them to do for you” Julie is a shining example of this golden rule.

In the midst of all of this, Julie took the time and energy to meet with this deceased mans family as they were wanting to thank her in person for being, in their words, “ an angel of God”. They are so grateful that he wasn’t alone when he died and that he knew he was worth total strangers risking their lives to save him.
While Julie was meeting with this family her lungs were filling with fluid, but she was there for them because that’s just who she is!

Those of us close to her always knew she had this compassionate, giving, deeply caring heart and now everyone gets to know.

Please show her your support and honour her heroic efforts with a donation to this fundraising page.

And being close to them I am aware that they are needing our support. They are needing prayers for Julie’s serious physically injuries to her right hand, as well as her emotional and mental healing because of the trauma associated with her near death experience and the passing of the man at the scene of the accident.

They are also needing support financially to help cover basic bills over the next two months or longer until she can return to work.  No one could foresee this kind of thing happening and because they’ve just invested everything into their new home they are experiencing financial stress during a time that they shouldn’t have extra stress and Julie should just be able to just focus on healing. They shouldn’t have to risk losing their house they've worked so hard for just because Julie acted with extreme bravery in this heart wrenching situation. Their mortgage insurance doesn't kick in for 60 days and EI takes 5 weeks with only covering 55-60% of her wages. The bills don't stop coming in when difficult times strike, but the stress of them builds and builds. They also have three children who depend on them as well as Julie's mother who lives with them.

Her husband, Darren is a paid on call fire fighter, and he risks his life every time he goes out to a call... but even he’d admit that he’s not been so close to possible death as Julie was on the night of May 26th.

She has been called a Good Samaritan, a hero and an angel from heaven!
She’s also a wife, mother, daughter, co-worker and friend. Her and her husband  support their three children and this family should not have to suffer any more than they already have and are.

If you want to encourage Julie, the best way you can do so is by making a donation here today.

Julie thanks you and so does everyone who loves and cares for her.
