Our Love & Support for Wesley, Roger, & Stephanie
In October 2018, our dear sweet Wesley was diagnosed with childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Just prior to his diagnosis, Wesley and his parents Roger Howard and Stephanie Blakeslee Howard were looking forward to their fist Halloween in their new home in New Hope, Pennsylvania. They were also over the moon preparing for the birth of their baby girl, due in March 2019.
The Howards are now on the fight and journey of their lives. Being the beautiful and creative soul that he is, Roger has started a blog to give us all the honor of joining them on this journey:
A.L.L. About Wesley: A Journey with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
As Roger wrote, "Wesley Morris Howard is sweet, intelligent, and the center of his parents lives, and we always considered him healthy and completely normal until the day we took him for a checkup to look at a minor rash and less than 24 hours later was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. This site was created three days later to document what will be a long and difficult process towards being cured of a disease that would have been a death sentence just a few decades ago."
We are blessed to have a window into the treatments and struggles, the little and big victories, and everything in between that is being experienced by Wesley, Roger, and Stephanie. I invite you to follow along through Roger's blog.
As strong a family as they are, and as unlikely as Roger and Stephanie would be to ask for help, we know that there are years of treatments, medical bills, missed work, and everything else that comes with caring for a beloved family member who is ill. Roger and Stephanie were an enormous asset to the Long Beach community when they lived here, both running and participating in fundraisers such as this. Roger and Stephanie more than deserve the love and support that they've so generously given to so many.
The Long Beach community, especially, has collected funds through various groups of friends and a fantastic fundraiser will be held at Art du Vin on Sunday, December 16. All proceeds from 4-6pm will be given to the Howards and, additionally, there will be a silent auction with items obtained from the community of people in Long Beach and beyond who love Stephanie and Roger. Please join me in raising funds for Roger, Stephanie, and Wesley to provide them with a bit of a cushion as they continue to take care of their baby (soon to be babies!), with a bit less worry at least about the financial aspects of the journey they are facing.
(This GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up so that all funds will be directly available to Stephanie and Roger.)
TEAM WESLEY!
Thank you, and God bless. <3
