Our lovely boy Mason

Hello, my name is Lucia, and I am good friends with Kelly and Rhys & Hi I am Reanne the aunty of Mason and Rhy’s sister. This beautiful boy is called Mason, and he is 2 years old. Unfortunately, this Christmas is going to be so hard for them as mason will be in hospital. Masons condition is called Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD). CGD is a disorder that prevents the immune system fighting off certain infections. People with CGD carry a faulty immune system gene, which means that white blood cells, called phagocytes, don't work properly. As a result, CGD-affected people tend to get frequent bacterial and fungal infections and need to take daily medication to stay healthy. However, many of the health complications seen in people with CGD are due to chronic inflammation rather than infection. Problems can arise and lead to serious illnesses and prolonged periods in hospital. The condition is thought to affect around eight people in a million. Mason will sadly be in hospital for 3 months. This means he will be in hospital for over the Christmas period. Mason’s parents are the only ones allowed to visit Mason in the hospital due to risk of infection. Both parents are having to isolate meaning they are both not working. This is to reduce risk of passing on illnesses or infections. Due to all this both parents are struggling to pay bills to their property, make money, and prioritise Masons care. We have decided to set this up to hopefully help these lovely parents focus solely on Mason getting better and not on how they are going to cover their bills and food expenses.
