Our Mom Has Had a Stroke
Donation protected
Hi guys, Brandon here with the terrible news that our beloved mother, Marilyn Cockrell Shiflett, has had a stroke which has had a debilitating effect on her vision. The stroke struck to separate areas in the visual cortex area at the back of her brain. She can still make out light and dark, but she calls her vision “kaleidoscopic.” There are also some cognitive deficits such as confusion, balance problems, and memory issues. But she is still herself and she is in good spirits and we, all of her kids, take heart in that. She is in the hospital now in the Neurological Ward and will remain here for at least two more weeks while she begins rehab and the long climb back to some sense of normalcy. The medical bills are piling up for her and she worries about her ability to work now that she cannot drive, read, or function in a workplace. We know how many friends she has out there who might be able to lend a helping hand. Huge thanks and love from our family to yours. ❤️
