Hi, we’re the Kowalski kids Cody, Courtney & Katie & we’re wanting to share our mother’s story. In late September of 2023 our mom found a lump & from there her cancer journey started. Starting out, multiple doctor appointments were scheduled, lots of imagery taken & biopsies performed. By early November, we got the diagnosis of Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma, mom has breast cancer. Those words cut deep & the fears immediately set in. Not only was our mom starting to navigate these uncharted waters, but our dad was also battling his own diagnosis of Late Stage Cervical Myelopathy. Between mom & dad both surgeries were scheduled & interventions set in motion. In December dad had his neck rebuilt & in January mom had her double mastectomy with reconstruction. Throughout the months of recovery we were prefaced with what was to come for our mom. We were told the cancerous tumors were removed successfully, but there’s more to come. Mom is currently receiving chemotherapy, four 6hr infusions every 3 weeks. She’s also utilizing cold cap therapy in hopes, that she won’t lose all of her hair. Her oncologist has informed us, that due to her aggressive form of cancer the chemotherapy is a heavy hitter & with the 3 weeks in-between it will give her body enough time to rebuild her system, to then be knocked out, again. A lot of hard pills to swallow & we never thought we’d be on this path, BUT our mom has kept her smile through all the trials & tribulations thus far. Although our mom would never ask for help, we are doing it for her. She’s always been about community & enjoys engaging with everyone she comes across. She’s continued to work before & after her surgery, taking time off for her appointments & dad’s appointments nearly 2 hrs away. Everything has unfortunately become a financial burden, wages lost & medical bills flowing in. Regardless, god has shed his light & we’re grateful for everyone apart of her journey. She’s so faithful, that everything will be just fine & if we could make it all go away we absolutely would. Wether you donate or include her in your thoughts & prayers, you’re an absolute blessing. This is our moms story & we hope it inspires to continue fighting. Thank you & all our love!
