Our Next Journey In Life

Hi, my name is Cindy. My husband Russ and I have been married for over 30 years and we promised each other, "for better or worse." We had our better days, the time of our photo, but now we must withstand the worst. We are two very caring people in need of help. We are prideful and would normally never ask for financial assistance, but have fallen on hard times and have no other choice right now.
For the past 10 years, I was a caregiver to my mother who was stricken with Alzheimer's and Dementia. I did not want to put my mom in a nursing home, so I gave up my life, including my career to take care of her 24/7. We made the decision to move in with her as she did not want to leave her home of 45 years.
Russ, who is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, has always been a hard working man. However, like many others, we lived paycheck to paycheck. In 2015, he suffered 2 heart attacks and later, developed severe Neuropathy in his legs and feet. It is a debilitating disease. In July of 2020, he was diagnosed with cancer of the Nasopharynx (back of the nose) and lymph nodes in his neck. He began the long, difficult process of undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments to fight the cancer. He is currently in remission, but the radiation treatments to his head and neck caused many complications from which he suffers daily. He has been unable to work and applied for Social Security Disability Insurance, but was denied. We were shocked.
What little savings we had, is gone. We had to rely on my mother's limited retirement income to live and to pay all of her expenses.
She was such a strong woman and survived 2 hip replacement surgeries, but on October 29th of this year, so sadly, my precious mother succumbed to complications from her 2nd surgery and lost her long battle with Dementia.
Now, Russ and I must pick up the pieces of her life which includes clearing out her house, a self storage unit and other miscellaneous things. We have to move out of her house, my childhood home, which has a reverse mortgage on it.
We are very worried because we don’t even have funds to rent a place to live or to pay mounting bills. We also don't have the money to pay for clean up and removal of my mother's belongings which she accumulated over the years, from her home.
There is a great urgency for the help I am asking for so Russ and I can get up on our feet and be able to start our lives over again. Right now, we only have hope to hold on to. Any donations, large or small would be so appreciated and mean the world to us. We have always helped and cared for others throughout our lives and hope our good deeds will be reciprocated at a time we need it the most.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. ❤
