Our Precious Lori.

My name is Eric and I am Lori’s older brother. In March of 2021, my 48 year-old loving, generous sister was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer. Since then, she has been fighting an uphill battle with this aggressive cancer. After several rounds of chemotherapy, she was told her cancer had spread to her spine. It was decided at that time to try radiation. After radiation, she was told again that her cancer had spread, so again, another round of chemotherapy was prescribed. After putting Lori through so much, it was decided to give Lori a break from treatment as her doctors thought her cancer was stable enough. After a three-month hiatus, it was in the spring of 2022 when Lori took a turn for the worst; she was told her cancer was spreading; a CT revealed her cancer was in her lungs and throughout her bones, so another round of painful chemotherapy and radiation. Next, doctors determined, after this long fight with cancer, Lori's diagnosis is terminal with no more treatment options available.

On October 10th of this year, Lori transitioned to hospice care at the Chapman Sholom East Nursing Home located in Saint Paul, MN. During her stay, she will continue to fight this relentless disease as her family and friends continue to hope and pray for a miracle. We are so proud of the strong, bad-ass super-hero that Lori continues to be throughout her journey. (No one’s counting you out Poohie!)

As Lori’s family, we are looking for any support to help relieve some of the financial needs of the high cost of long-term care and some of the amenities (i.e., haircuts), that her new living residence has to offer. We would also like to focus on things that bring her joy and hope. She has her own private room and we want to make it as comfortable and fun (i.e., rare, vintage “Friends” poster?) for her as possible. We have been brainstorming with her on creative ideas and possibilities that would help accomplish our mission.

Lori has spent her life bringing joy and helping others. She has served as a nurse for over 20+ years and worked fearlessly on the “front lines” during the pandemic. In her tenure, she has been employed at Bandana Square Clinic, University MN of Physicians in Urology and Shoreview Allina. Lori makes friends, family, and co-workers laugh. She has been an exceptional aunt to her nieces and nephews, attending countless sporting events and taking them on adventures. Please consider donating to someone who has brought endless joy to others. Your contribution (nothing would be too small) would help provide comfort and peace for Our Precious Lori.
