Our sassafras, Green, is the boss of cancer too!

For the sake of a child’s privacy, I won’t be including any specific identifying information. I will try to keep this short and sweet, although my emotions might get the best of all of us. The little girl on the right, I know for certain, is supposed to be here! She has already served a major purpose, in her 4 years, before I have even been able to figure out in my 34 years of life and that was to be my daughters first best friend. From the very first time that I met, Green, my daughter and her were dragging each other all up and down the neighborhood. This lead to a family, that had just arrived from Shreveport, Louisiana and my little family to merge into a great friendship. The girls, soon became inseparable! Whoever woke up first was surely the first to head down to the other’s house, even before breakfast. Sometimes still in their pajamas. My daughter and Green became sisters! Little did anyone know, she was exactly what my daughter needed and needs.

Having come from a marriage of over 20 years, she is the “you know”, baby. That’s where this little spit fire gets her foundation! Her mother, the epitome of who I wished I had and who I wish to be as a mother. This woman is the definition of a force! Currently pursuing law, with 3 children and a husband, is all there is to back that statement. Green’s father, is the man that we all think are extinct! A father figure to all, a hard worker who is not afraid to love on his children even with that old school mentality! And just like our family, minus one, Green has 2 of the most amazing siblings as her protectors and role models.

I say minus one because my daughter lost her father, my husband, just a short year ago. Even though nothing could replace that bond, I couldn’t give my daughter what she needed. She needed, Green.

Green was diagnosed with leukemia on 7-26-23.

I don’t think, I have to say it, but I will. No child deserves this. I could go on and say, “life’s not fair!” I could scream at the top of my lungs from the frustration that this child, my daughters best friend, my other(child) from a different mother, definitely does not deserve this! I know that’s everyone’s thought in the face of cancer! But I AM TELLING YOU that my little girl needs her best friend. We all need her! We all need the boss to stick around because there’s only one chief!

I started this because I have now experienced what it’s like to deal with life when we need our full attention and energy to consume a crisis, and it’s hard!!! That baby needs all the love and support her family and friends and extended family has to give to her. So I would love to set this fund, right here, under your eyes and heart to ask for the love and outside support from those who knows what it’s like to deal with the unexpected and give her family some financial ease so they’re able to focus their energy to strengthen our small warrior! To know Green, is to love her. And if you just so happened to not fall in love with her, you are definitely going to know who she is!

Thank you,
Ky and Fam
