Thank you for taking the time to check out our Go Fund Me Page. We are St Michael's House Special National School, Raheny.
Due to Covid Restrictions, we have been using the green at the front of the school as an additional play area. We have found this space very beneficial for our students and staff as it provides them with more opportunities to play outdoors safely. We would like to develop a playground on this green area, creating outdoor space to meet the movement and sensory needs of our cohort of pupils, including wheelchair users.
Our 'Sensational Sensory Play-Garden' will include play equipment such as carousals, a hammock, a range of swings that can be used by all, a seesaw and an embankment slide. The numerous activities that swing, spin and rock address the sensory needs of many of our pupils and one of the carousels will be wheelchair accessible. It is planned that the area would also be used for much needed movement breaks which reduce high levels of anxiety.
*Update* We have reduced our Go Fund Me target to 60,000 euro as we have received a lot of donations directly to our school thanks to the numerous fundraising events which have been carried out by our students, staff, families and wider school community. Our current fundraising amount is 53,000 euro. Thank you very much to everyone who has helped us move closer towards our overall target of 100k.

We would appreciate all support and donations for this project as it would greatly benefit the students under our care. A huge thank you to all the staff and parents in our school and Paul Croft and Sean Melia who are working tirelessly to help us reach our target of 100k. We will continue to carry out a number of fundraisers over the next couple of months to help raise the funds needed to build our 'Sensational Sensory Play-Garden.'
