Our Story – A Family Fighting Together ❤
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
We never imagined we’d be in this position, but we’re reaching out for help as our family faces the unthinkable — not once, but twice.
In January 2024, Patrice, my amazing partner and the heart of our home, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). What followed was six long, grueling months in Galway University Hospital, and then a transfer to St. James’ Hospital in Dublin for a bone marrow transplant. We had so much hope, but sadly, the transplant wasn’t as successful as we had hoped. Patrice now requires regular DLI therapy and chemotherapy in Dublin to keep the disease under control.
Throughout this time, our four young children have been cared for by our incredible extended family. Our youngest, Tillie, was just seven months old when Patrice’s battle began.
And then, heartbreakingly, our 4-year-old Zach began showing signs of severe fatigue. After numerous tests and bone marrow biopsies, Zach has now been diagnosed with high-risk MDS, a rare blood disorder that progresses into AML. We are absolutely shattered.
Zach urgently needs a bone marrow transplant, which unfortunately cannot be done in Ireland. He’s been referred to the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in Utrecht, Netherlands, where he will be an inpatient for a minimum of 3 months.
This means another massive strain on our family — emotionally, financially, and logistically. Patrice will need to travel back and forth for her own life-saving treatment, while also trying to be there for Zach, and for our other children: Casey, Hollie, and baby Tillie.
We’re asking, with all the humility in our hearts, for any help you can offer. Donations will go towards travel, accommodation, and basic living costs while we are in the Netherlands, trying to keep our family together and support Zach through this critical treatment.
Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to being by Zach’s side — and holding our family together during this heartbreaking time.
