Our sweet Ruby who deserves a break!

Hello Everyone. We hate to ask for financial support but at this point we really cannot think of any other option. Ruby is a rescue dog that was found stuck in an abandoned concrete pit with a litter of pups in Spain. She was rescued by charity workers, along with her pups, but sadly one pup didn’t make it. Ruby and her pups were cared for by the staff at the rescue and we were fortunate enough to be picked as her new owners. Ruby has been living with us in England for around 18 months now. She is a fabulous adopted sister to our other dog Iris, and is very gentle with our 2 year old. In March, Ruby had an emergency operation as her bowel had been perforated by an unknown foreign object in two places. She was really unwell, but given the right treatment, powered on through. This operation cost us as a family around £3000 in total. Luckily most of this we were able to claim back through insurance. As I write this, Ruby is back in hospital with weakness in her back legs. She is suspected to have a compression in her spine. The cause of this is also unknown, but she is in bad condition. She is having an MRI scan and is likely to need surgery, which has been cost in the region of £5,500-£7,500. Money which most people do not have spare, including our family. We only have approximately £1000 left to claim on our insurance as naively we thought £4000 annually would be more than enough for 4 year old dog with no pre-existing conditions. A mistake we will not be making ever again. We love Ruby so much and would not say goodbye to her when there is hope of recovery, regardless of the cost. She has had such a tough start to life and deserves a chance at living healthily and happily. Any contributions towards her specialist veterinary treatment would be greatly appreciated by our little family! All our love, Ellie, Harry, Archie, Ruby and Iris!
