Restore Dignity, Reduce Waste: A Personal Mission to Transform Elders Lives & The Planet.

Hi, I’m Maia Willow, and I need your help to make a difference. After years as a nurse in Aged Care, I’ve witnessed the heartbreak of elders losing their dignity because of ill-fitting, uncomfortable clothing. One moment I’ll never forget was a frail gentleman, struggling to hold up his trousers. The look of frustration and loss in his eyes broke me. That moment shaped my mission: to restore dignity, identity, and joy to our elders through clothing that fits, feels good, and helps them feel like themselves again.

But this isn’t just about clothes. Each year, over 200,000 tonnes of clothing end up in Australian landfills. By re-purposing second-hand garments, I’m tackling fashion waste while giving back to those who’ve given so much to society.

How Your Support Can Help

I’ve started a project called Our Timeless Threads. Here’s what I do:

I collect pre-loved, high-quality clothing, refurbish it, and deliver it directly to care homes.

I bring joy to care homes through pre-loved clothing and memory-rich pop-up shops designed especially for people with dementia – using classic music and vintage styles to spark warm memories.

Residents try on outfits and strut the catwalk wearing vibrant catwalk items to invoke feelings of safety and memory, and get fun-loving professional photo-shoots – restoring dignity and creating smiles.

By ensuring residents have appropriate clothing, I provide relief to families and staff, reducing stress, enhancing care quality, and supporting the planet, all in one!

The Mission

I need to raise $30,000 to continue running Our Timeless Threads.

Here’s how I’ll use your generous contributions:

$15,000: A reliable van to transport clothing and host pop-up shops across care homes in Australia.

$10,000: Covering operational costs like sorting, marketing, and redistribution.

$5,000: Essential equipment like storage, laptop and camera to manage logistics and grow the project.
