Our two in ICU
Donation protected
Hi Everyone. We have started this GoFundMe as so many of you have reached out and asked how you can help our beautiful kids Eve and Jack.
Our daughter Eve, 3, and her baby brother Jack, 6 months, are both currently in ICU at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne with RSV.
Eve came to ICU on Sunday 31st July with increased work of breathing and tested positive to RSV. She had several pulmonary crises that afternoon and was admitted to ICU. This is Eve's third ICU visit this year and RSV is the one virus that is extrememly risky for her as she has pulmonary hypertension and interstital lung disease since birth. The management of any virus, plus her underlying condition has many unexpected turns that are unlike a normal 3 year old. She has had several pulmonary crises since being admitted on Sunday.
The following day Jack presented with the same symptoms and was rushed to Frankston hospital. He was put on oxygen and transferred to the RCH. We were expecting him to stay overnight, but that night he went downhill very quickly and needed CPAP. He had extreme difficulty breathing and was admitted to the ICU with RSV.
Both our beautiful children are in ICU on high flow oxygen and medications. They are in rooms opposite each other.
We would never in our wildest dreams imagined that two kids would become so unwell at the same time and be fighting for their life in ICU. The stress has been incredibly overwhelming.
Money raisesd through this GoFundMe goes to supporting our family while both our kids are in ICU including hospital parking, healthy food, ongoing medications. But mainly because Shaun (Dad) has needed to take leave without pay from work (all his sick leave was used on Eve's previous Covid & Influenza admission this year). We imagined it will he at least two weeks before he is able to return. Georgie (that's me!) Is on maternity leave.
We are going ok handling both kids in ICU, there is nothing else to focus on right now other than being with them. We know from previous admissions that when we return home we often fall in a heap and always appreciate the ongoing support.
Thankyou to all the beautiful messages we have recieved from sharing lots of this story on instagram (@art_with_georgie).
