OUR URGENT PLEA TO HELP ANTHONY

Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Strangers,

We reach out to you today with heavy hearts, facing a situation we never imagined. We are in desperate need of your help to bring Anthony home.

On February 2nd, Anthony arrived at the Hippocrates Health Center with us—his family—by his side. After a long and difficult journey, we were relieved to see small but meaningful signs of progress. His strength began to return, his jaundice started to improve, he was walking more and more, and hope felt within reach.

On February 4th, Anthony underwent a procedure at a Florida hospital to drain ascites fluid from his abdomen. Despite our insistence on a safer limit, doctors removed 5.5 liters, pushing the boundaries of what his body could handle.

On February 5th, our worst fears came true. Anthony’s blood pressure dropped dangerously, and he became unresponsive due to what appeared to be a seizure. He was rushed to Palm West Hospital, where doctors discovered a ruptured blood vessel connected to his liver, causing him to lose more than 2 liters of blood internally. He was immediately given 3 liters of blood to stabilize his hemoglobin levels, along with medication to regulate his blood pressure. Though the bleeding stopped on its own, a complex and invasive procedure was needed to remove the old blood from his stomach using a GI camera. This required sedation and placement on an incubator to breathe.

Incredibly, just a day and a half later, Anthony was off the ventilator and showing signs of improvement. He became more responsive, started moving around his hospital room, and had his IV fluids and medications removed. By February 10th, we were preparing for his discharge, with plans to leave the next day.

However, that night, while we were sleeping in the car outside the hospital, we received a devastating call from my father, who had been at Anthony’s side. Anthony had become unresponsive again, experiencing what appeared to be another seizure—this time, unable to move his limbs.

It was then we learned that Anthony’s kidney function was rapidly declining due to the immense stress his body had endured. This signifies that his system is struggling, and we are now facing the heartbreaking reality that his body is beginning to shut down.

Anthony just wants to go home, and we are desperately trying to make that happen. However, no commercial airline will allow him to fly in his condition, even with a medical escort. The only way to transport him safely is via medevac flight, which must fly at low altitude to prevent further internal bleeding. This flight alone costs $42,000 CAD.

In the midst of all of this, my father has been trying to keep his small business running remotely from Florida, but we are now overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands of dollars in unforeseen medical bills from Anthony’s 7 day ICU stay. We have exhausted all our resources and have no means of covering the cost of this medevac flight, nor all unexpected medical bills. We need to bring Anthony home, please.

We are heartbroken to ask for help again, especially knowing how much love and generosity you have already shown. Your financial and emotional support helped us get Anthony to the Hippocrates Health Center, and we are forever grateful. But now, we are out of options, and we urgently need your help. Please know that we wouldn’t ask if we weren’t desperate.

If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. We ask only that you share this message on your social media, helping us reach as many kind hearts as possible.

Anthony is the strongest man we know, and we are determined to bring him home—where he belongs, surrounded by his loved ones, and try our best to navigate our way through the unknown and difficult future that is ahead.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading our message, for your prayers, your generosity, and your kindness. We are eternally grateful. God bless you.

With sincere appreciation and a desperate plea for help,
Anthony’s Family
