Update
Dear Friends,
we have reached the initial goal, thank you form the bottom of our hearts. We will get Cosmos’ blood work done next, we hope he is healthy and will be able to get his Plazma treatment. We are seeing vets on 11th September.
We are updating the goal to continue with Cosmos hydrotherapy and laser treatment to strengthen his hint legs muscles. Stronger muscles keep joints and bones in place.
Dear Friends,
I'm reaching out today with a heartfelt plea on behalf of our much loved family member, Cosmos, our Westie dog who turned 13 in July. Cosmos has been a constant companion and source of strength for us over these years. Cosmos is my first “child,” my soulmate, and the inspiration. He’s been there for me through thick and thin, and now, he needs us more than ever.
Yesterday, after visit to the vet, we found out that Cosmos has suffered a cruciate ligament tear and requires treatment and possibly surgery to restart his full and active life. We have visited two veterinary surgeons, both confirmed the problem. The second vet suggested to try non invasive PRP therapy (Plazma therapy). Cosmos will require at least 4 sessions, each costing 200EUR (so 800 EUR ). If that does not work, he will need cruciate ligament surgery. This surgery costs 600 EUR. In addition to that, he will need full blood work, heart check. Hopefully he is healthy enough to undergo the treatment. The second Vet said that only because Cosmos muscles are so strong is the reason that he is still walking / hoping. He is a strong dog and I believe and hope he has many few years ahead of him.
Unfortunately we cannot afford to pay for this essential treatment at this time (personal medical bills, nursery for our baby girl, emergency renovations of foundations to the our apartment block we live in have all dwindled rainy day savings to almost zero), plus Cosmos is getting hydrotherapy and laser treatment. Without the PRP and possibly surgery, Cosmos will face a difficult and painful road ahead. The though of not being able to get this necessary and urgent treatment for him is heartbreaking. We need your help.
Cosmos is no ordinary 13-year-old dog. He’s energetic, full of life and loves chasing German Shepherds and motorbikes (if you know the Westie dog breed, you know they think they are big dogs that are trapped in a small body.) This injury is holding him back from living the life he loves, and we’re determined to do everything we can to help him get back on his 4 paws.
That's why Mel, Matilda, Cosmos, and I are humbly asking for your support. We’re launching this crowdfunding campaign to raise the €1000 that is needed for Cosmos’ tests and PRP treatment. Your generosity will directly impact Cosmos recovery and enable Cosmos to continue being the joyful, active dog he has always been.
Every little bit helps, and your support means the world to us. Whether you’re able to donate or simply share our story, we will be forever grateful for your kindness. Cosmos has been there for us every step of the way, and now it’s our turn to be there for him. He moved from Dublin (he’s Irish!) to Berlin and later to Vilnius with us, he’s our family member and we’ll do everything we can to help him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us give Cosmos the chance to chase after those motorbikes once more!
With love and gratitude,
Edita, Mel, Matilda, and Cosmos
As a footnote if there is any money remaining we will donate it to dog rescue centres in Vilnius.
Cosmos is hitching a ride in Matilda's pram. Luckily we can bring him places lol, via pram transport.
Here's his walk with the limp.Painful to watch.
