The lightning strikes have lead to raging fires in our backyards, in our valleys and in our mountains.  Locals are fighting back with their dozers to cut lines. Pope Valley has fought hard for day. Now we have dozers on Howell Mtn making tracks to protect.  With little recourses, but fueled by  determination, we will push forward.  Our hope is to get funds to provide fuel for dozers operating currently In Howell mountain as well as to many who have already fought  in Pope Valley. The dozers who have operated in Pope Valley for days have provided other areas with protection. Our hope is to help out in the debt they have accrued by running their equipment.  We own them all whatever we can give. Thank you.

 

I was asked to provide more information about myself as I understand the need for people to trust that I am doing the right thing in order to help and aid to the campaign. My name is Kristina Dunn Buchanan. I was born and raised in Angwin. My family’s vineyards and winery has been on Howell Mtn since 1979. My father, Randy, and my brother,Mike, are very active in land preservation. My husband, Brian Buchanan, is an Engineer with Santa Rosa City. He was born and raised in Angwin. We live on Howell Mountain, with our kids and animals. When stories started rolling in about the people fighting the fires in PV and the need for dozers in Angwin, I knew I needed to help some way. I couldn’t fight physically as I needed to be with my two small girl’s, but I knew I had to start somewhere. I’m working hard to gather the names of the individuals who used their rigs to fight the fires. I also know many people used their fuel trucks. I will be able to distribute out the funds once I have the names, description of the rigs used and location.
