O.U. Student Union Legal Support
On January 22nd and 23rd, the Athens and Ohio University Police Departments arrested six student members of the Ohio University Student Union who participated in protests against the Board of Trustees. For several years, the Ohio University Student Union has fought for a more affordable education, for a more supportive campus for survivors of sexual assault, and for a university that is ecologically responsible. After many dead-end meetings with hostile administrators, passing numerous Student Senate resolutions, and organizing countless on-campus demonstrations, the OU Student Union decided to protest at the Board of Trustees meeting to ensure that students will no longer be completely ignored.
Rather than hearing the sincere concerns of students, the Board of Trustees removed students from the room and had several arrested. We will not allow them to bully students into submission. We are asking now for your financial support to pay for the legal fines and fees that these brave students have incurred in the fight for a more fair, safe, and responsible Ohio University.
